Special commendation from the General Santos City Sangguniang Panglungsod
We are proud to share that St. Elizabeth Hospital (SEHI) has been bestowed with a special commendation from the General Santos City Sangguniang Panglungsod, headed by the city’s Vice Mayor Hon. Rosalita Nunez, recognizing the hospital’s groundbreaking achievement in performing its first-ever open-heart surgery on a 13-year-old patient with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) or commonly known as a hole in the heart. This historic milestone marks a significant leap forward for the hospital, showcasing its commitment to advancing medical care within the community.
Dr. Edwin Valencia, SEHI’s Lead Cardiothoracic surgeon, expressed gratitude for the commendation, stressing its significance for both the hospital and healthcare in General Santos City and Region 12. He highlighted the hospital’s readiness for high-end surgeries, ensuring advanced cardiac medical care locally. Dr. Valencia also affirmed the hospital’s commitment to providing access to care for all patients, including financial support initiatives through collaboration with financial institutions, reinforcing their mission of compassionate healthcare excellence. He also mentioned that St. Elizabeth Hospital will soon open its Catheterization laboratory in April 2024, further enhancing its capacity to deliver state-of-the-art medical interventions.
Hon. Rosalita Nunez hailed St. Elizabeth Hospital’s milestone as one for the books, for boosting healthcare in General Santos City. She stressed the need to raise awareness about the hospital’s lifesaving services and plans to promote this to reach more people. She also mentioned that the city will soon establish a foundation to support patients’ financial needs, making this kind of surgery accessible to all.

St. Elizabeth Hospital and our Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Antonio “Tony” Veneracion, have proudly bagged three prestigious awards at the recent Metro Pacific Health (MPH) CEO Summit, underscoring our unwavering commitment to healthcare excellence. We were honored with the following:
- Best in Service Excellence Award – recognized for our exceptional performance in achieving the shortest discharge turnaround time of 1.9 hours, an impressive 84% Net Promoter Score (NPS), and our steadfast focus on patient-centered care.
- 3rd place in the Best Overall Performance Award – reflected our continuous pursuit of excellence across all operational facets.
Moreover, our CEO, Mr. Antonio “Tony” Veneracion, received the esteemed MPH Stewardship Award. His visionary leadership in championing referral marketing, enhancing brand equity, and spearheading the NPS roll-out has been instrumental in our success. Under his guidance, St. Elizabeth Hospital became the first to implement NPS, with Tony acting as the NPS Improvement Process Mentor. His alignment with OPP’s strategic ambitions and initiatives has significantly improved our revenue sources and customer service levels. Tony has also been a key figure in hosting visits from other MPH hospital presidents and CEOs, advocating for UCC and MAB business models, and sharing benchmarks on nursing optimization and best practices in transitioning new hospitals.

It is with great pride and excitement that we announce the successful passing of the continuing certification of ISO 9001:2015 for St. Elizabeth Hospital, WITH NO NON-CONFORMITIES, during the surveillance audit conducted by a third-party provider, AJA Europe, on April 4, 2023.
